GALLAGHER, James F., passed away April 16, 2023, beloved husband of Mary Beth (Florea) Gallagher, dear father of Jamie (Daniel) Hiltz, Michael (Jamie) Gallagher, Rev. Martin F. Gallagher and the late N.Y.S. Trooper Joseph J. (Laura) Gallagher, loving grandfather of William C. Gallagher, Jayden Elizabeth Hiltz, Jaxson John Gallagher, Steven Joseph Hiltz, Catherine Annette Gallagher, Isabella Ann Hiltz, Mason James Gallagher, Grayson Joseph Gallagher and the late Caleb James Hiltz; son of the late William and Elizabeth (Pfeiffer) Gallagher, brother of Robert (Karen), Stephen (Ginny), M. Therese (David) Pitrelli, Ann (Matthew) Laudisio, Patricia "Trish"(Patrick) Casillo, Mark (Linda) Gallagher and the late Joseph Patrick (Paulette), late Rev. Mgsr. William J. Gallagher and the late John Michael (Kathleen) Gallagher, son-in-law of the late Joseph and Patricia (Songer) Florea, brother-in-law of John (Julie) Florea, Joseph Florea, Rosemary (James) Faltisco, Martin (Cheryl Nice) Florea, Carleen Florea and the late James Eugene Florea, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 2-4:00 and 7-9:00 pm at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3155 Orchard Park Road in Orchard Park, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday 10:00am at 14 Holy Helpers Church. (Please assemble at church) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NYS Trooper PBA Signal, 30 Benefit Fund, 120 State St., Suite 2, Albany, NY 12207. Jim was born in 1946 and was the 5th of 10 children. He grew up in St. John the Evangelist parish in South Buffalo.
He attended Bishop Timon High school and Bryant and Stratton college for labor law.
He worked for the Buffalo Board of Education and was the union president of PCTEA.
He loved the NY Mets, The Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, history, and politics. He enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren and he loved to read. He was very religious and enjoyed being a Eucharistic minister, a lector and taking communion to the sick. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a parishioner of 14 Holy Helpers parish at the time of his passing. After retirement he enjoyed walking his dog, reading and sports.Online condolences at www.CANNANFH.com
