Obituary of Arlene Browne
Please share a memory of Arlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
BROWNE, Arlene (Hines), passed away at home on March 5th, 2022, with her family lovingly by her side.
Arlene was born in Buffalo in 1932 to Theodore and Celia Hines. She grew up in Buffalo and graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Arlene worked at Mercy Hospital for 30 years as an RN in the NICU, caring for premature babies was her passion.
A blind date at Stormy’s with Al Browne in 1955 turned out to be the beginning of an eternal legacy. Together they raised six children in West Seneca and welcomed 15 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren into their close, loving family.
Al and Arlene spent many winters in Florida, where Arlene could be found lounging poolside, walking with friends, playing bocce, or dancing at the casino. She also loved music, attending concerts, and seafood on the gulf. She was always excited when family came to visit, especially her grandchildren. They were treated with Lucky Charms, fresh strawberries, poolside picnics, and walks on the beach.
Arlene leaves behind her husband, Aloysius “Al” Browne of 65 years, she is the dear mother of the late Patrick, Timothy (Dawn), Kevin (Michelle), Colleen (Darrow) Hanesian, Daniel (Amy), and Maureen (Brian) Casey. Loving grandmother of TJ Browne, Shannen (James) Limmer, Kevin and Keegan Browne, Megan, Brian, and Mat (Morgan) Hanesian, Daniel and Connor Browne, Norita (James) Cairney, Robert and Maria Casey, Sarah and Nolan Gosch, and Liam Casey. Each of her grandchildren benefitted from her nursing knowledge and expertise. She is known by many as a true “baby-whisperer.” Arlene is also Great-Grandmother of Harper, Gerilyn, Cameron, and Piper. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
