Please accept my warmest condolences. NerdWallet was a better place to work because of Patrick and for the last 2 years, I was lucky to get to know him. I always appreciated Patrick’s enthusiasm for movies and when he shared what upcoming release he was excited to see - especially, PTA. I've only known Patrick since last September, when he hired me as his direct report. In that short time, however, he came to represent a kind and supportive space at NerdWallet and I quickly grew to adore working with him. I had the great pleasure of being Patrick's manager for the last 2+ years. I've been writing and rewriting this post for the last 24 hours wanting to find the right words to express to his family what an incredible human Patrick was. He was kind, he was respectful, he had deep passion for SEO, and he gave as much as he could to his team. On Thursday last week several of us on the Organic Growth team had a meeting together. During that meeting, he displayed so much pride for those who worked for him and the promise of what we could all build together as a team. Another member of our team has been reflecting on that conversation noting that we were so lucky his internet was working well that day. More often than not Patrick couldn't have his video on; but last week, we got to see his face. Patrick taught me so much. I credit him with much of the success that we've been able to have as a team. I can't believe he is gone. To Patrick's parents, siblings, cousins, and the large family he talked to me about often: you raised a wonderful man. He loved you all so much and he was so beloved by us here at NerdWallet. Patrick left a deep imprint on my life and I'll always remember him.

I knew Patrick for a few great years while working in San Francisco. He was an immediate friend. He was so gracious with his time, taking the time to teach me about his world, beyond anything the job required.
We spent many after-work hangs chatting about life, friends, and which was the best Radiohead album. "I get it, man, but..." he would always say before telling me how wrong I was about music. He was right, but he always heard me out.
Patrick was generous, kind, and extremely thoughtful. We had some great times and talked through some tough decisions about where we wanted to be and what we wanted to do in life. No matter what I had to talk through Patrick was always there with an open ear and a warm "I get it man." You will be greatly missed, my friend.

I was heartbroken to hear the news about Patrick, and my deepest sympathies are with his family.
I worked with Patrick for 3+ years and he was always a joy -- we talked a lot about baseball, and SEO, and I always appreciated his willingness to take on new challenges, explain things, answer my questions, and generally teach me. My deepest sympathies about Patrick.
In 2017, he joined the large content team I led at NerdWallet. He was deeply valued and respected there. We counted on him. He knew his stuff and was unwaveringly supportive, collaborative and down to earth. If he didn’t know something, he never pretended. He worked with countless people across teams and I heard nothing but great things about him.
He also was just an absolute pleasure to be around, someone you knew was a good guy through and through. He had the best smile and was so endearing. Even now, when I think of him through tears, that stands out.
We kept in touch after I left NerdWallet last year. Hearing about your losing him makes me heartsick. I will remember him with great affection. It was a privilege to have known him.
