Obituary of Leah Ashe

Of Salobrena, Spain, passed away November 10, 2020, at the age of 40. Leah, an avid learner, and traveler, dedicated her life to the pursuit of knowledge and culture. She graduated. from Orchard Park High School as valedictorian and went on to the University of Notre Dame, where she excelled on the women’s crew team and embraced the fighting Irish spirit. Her passion and curiosity brought her to Europe, where she completed her Masters and PhD in the field of Food Security. Leah had recently worked as a research fellow at the University of Catalunya, Spain. She will always be remembered for her deep commitment. to learning and sharing her wealth of knowledge with the vibrant community or people around her. Leah was the daughter of Tom and the late Diane Ashe; step-daughter of Mary Ellen Ashe; sister of Greg (Cindy) Ashe; stepsister of Mary Kate Luff; granddaughter of the late Rose Ashe and the late Jack Ashe, Rich and the late Mary Jane DiSarno; also, many other relatives. Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 3-7 PM at the JAMES W. CANNAN FUNERAL HOME (Southtowns Chapel), 3155 Orchard Park Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:30 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church (please assemble at church). Due to the current health concerns in our area, we are limited to the number of people allowed inside the funeral home. We appreciate your patience while attending the wake. Donations may be made in Leah’s name, to Buffalo Rotary Foundation, 701 Seneca St.
