To Rita's family: There are no words to express my sympathy to you all. I have known your mother for about 12 years, and have enjoyed having her as one special friend. I loved her more than you will ever know. She was such a woman to be around, good days and bad days, she always had something to say.
I loved getting her phone calls, Debbie this is Rita, yup I know, I have your number, she would giggle every time. Then go on to say, well you were lucky again, and you know where to meet me, more giggles. She was my gambling granny!!. I sure will miss those days, she so loved that part of her life.
I got to hear so much about her 4 smart kids, and that not one of you ever sassed her. She was so proud of you all, and loved you very much. I am so thankful that you 4 shared her with me, as I did adopt her to be my mother, and know that some days I did sass her, then she would call me a goofball, and then that giggle again.
I'm so sad that I can't be in New York for her service, but because of the pandemic. I hope we Villagers will get to honor her here. We sure will give her a great send off, Love to you all Deb Johnson
