Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bill died peacefully at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice on April 2, 2020 at the age of 92. He was the devoted husband of 59 years of the late Eleanor “Ellie” (Milligan) Griffin; beloved father of Peggy (Dave) Gilmour, Colette (Chris) Gibson, Kathy (late Kale) Bridge, Bill Griffin, Maureen Higgins, Tim “TJ” Griffin, Julie (John) Harrington and the late Mary Beth (Glenn) Pasier and Jim “Jumbo” Griffin; proud Grandpa of Kathleen, Jill, Beth, Dan, Sheila, Billy, Jennifer, Sean, Jessica, Megan, Erin, Emily and Jack and their spouses and partners; loving Papa to Joseph, Hannah, Ella, Sophie, Harper, London, Taylor, Connor, Madelyn and Leah; dear brother of Mary (late Bob) Larson, and the late Helen (late Bob) Schaub, late Joan (late Joe) Duane, late Rita and late Paul Griffin; also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bill was the son of the late James H. Griffin Jr. and Johanna M. O’Connell. He was a proud graduate of Canisius High School and nobly declined a scholarship to Notre Dame College in order to serve in the United States Navy during WW II. He was a kind and funny man whose quick wit amused many people first in his on-line blog and later on Facebook where his daily puns and observations were a source of great amusement to the masses and sometimes a slight embarrassment to his groaning family. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his support of countless charities that he held dear, and his devotion to God, his family and his country. Arrangements by the James W. Cannan Funeral Home. A private service will take place for family members only, with a Celebration of Life to be held at a future date when the current pandemic allows. If you are inclined, please consider a donation to Hospice in Bill’s memory.
