Dunford Family,
I was deeply saddened and hearing of Billy's passing. We spent many years together playing on the police All-Star basketball team during the seventies and eighties. I loved his competitiveness, and his willing to sacrifice his body to make a play. But more importantly, he was a kind soul and I enjoyed many a conversation with Bill following our games. May God bless the Dunford family, and may Billy rest in peace

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Dunford was such a kind and loving man. I loved hearing stories of him picking up anyone who needed a ride (even if his own children weren’t there). He did an amazing job raising beautiful and fun children with Mrs. Dunford. I will keep all of you in my prayers.

I’m so sorry for your loss! Mr. Dunford was the best. I always loved seeing him at Christmas Eve at our house and may have received a couple rides home from Chippewa from him over the years. Denise, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I am Joe Oddo. I played softball for the the Kenmore A team against Bill. We intense but respectful rivalry. I remember Bill catching the ball bare handed. He wouldn't let anything get past him.

Sending warmest thoughts to Bill's family -- he was a great friend whom I enjoyed working with (and playing sports with) at UB. He mentored me through obtaining my Master' degree and beginning my teaching career. We were reunited at Medaille College. I have fond memories of my times with Bill and I will miss him greatly! When I think of Bill, I realize what a good and supportive friend he was to so many of us; that great smile, always ready to share a laugh; that fantastic memory (e.g. he could recite batting averages from the 1960s from major league players to his teammates); and maybe the most inspiring memory will be his courage and tenacity to fight off devastating illness. The only one I know who may be stronger than him is Denise. I am honored and grateful to know them both as my friends.

I do not have to tell anybody who knew him, but Bill was an all around good guy whose pleasant disposition touched us all. Even when he was in ill health, he was always upbeat, and jovial!
My fondest memory of Bill was when he took me down to the First Ward for my very first time after work at UB, we had a great time! I have many fond memories of Bill, and he will be sorely missed!

So sorry that I am unable to pay my respects to Bill’s family in person as I am out of town with family until after the new year.
Bill was a real gentleman in every respect. I last saw him at the posthumous induction of my uncle, Wally Franczyk into the WNY Tennis Hall of Fame. Bill was instrumental in Wally’s recognition.
I am honored to have known him. Prayers for his family.
