Sheila was born on September 14,1938 in Fermoy, Ireland County Cork to Patrick and Catherine Casey. Her Irish born parents moved to the US, gained their citizenship, and returned to Ireland to start their family. On Easter morning in 1948, Patrick and Catherine with their children, Sheila, Ellen, Bill, Brendon, and Mary arrived in Buffalo, New York where they started their lives in America.
Don Dorsey and Sheila fell in love, married, and started their family together. Sandy was the first of five children, Pat, Paul, Teresa, and Jay. Sheila would shout all of their names from the top window of their apartment on Juniata Street in South Buffalo for many years when the streetlights came on and it was time to come inside.
After the passing of her husband, Don, in 1977, the family moved off of Juniata to Paul Place and began a new chapter in life. This is when she had met her companion Owen Devine who became a big part of the family. Poppa as he became known was with Sheila till his heavenly departure in 2007. Sheila remained in the Paul Place house for years to come.
She had many accomplishments, but her family and friends were her lifeline. She was loyal to her core to her family, friends and her job. Her jobs was incredible and spent many years at the Riverfield, McDonalds, Moriarty Café, The HSBC Areana, and Rich Stadium. She became very well known in the city for her service and commitment throughout the years. Sheila was a breast cancer survivor and a big Friend to Bill W. Her journey came to an end on August 31, 2024, at 1:30 PM, two weeks shy of her 86th birthday. She will be missed by many but loved forever.
