I’m sorry I couldn’t make it tonight to say my goodbyes and honor a great man. You have forever impacted the service industry in this city and surrounding community. Your hard work and dedication was evident, but your willingness and generosity to share advice, help those in need and greet everyone with that welcoming smile is what will continue to grow throughout WNY. Buffalo lost an ambassador, but the world has lost a great man. Rest easy.

I have no adequate words to express how sorry I am in hearing about Tommy, and I am so sorry I am unable to pay my respects in person. Such a great guy growing up and always remained a great guy. Every time I was back home in Buffalo Id see him at 40 Thieves and he always greeted me with a hug and would ask about life in Chicago. Such an immense loss for everyone. RIP Tommy.

Something is missing in Buffalo today and it's Tommy.
We owned bars on the same street and I used to watch him flash that brilliant smile, eyes ever moving, making sure everything was good, everyone was good.
His entrepreneurial spirit was almost as quick to catch on as his smile.
What a wonderful man he was. How grateful we are to have had him in our lives.
I never got that chance to tell him how much I looked up to him over the years, but one day I will. One day we'll all be together again.
Until then I'll think about him often and know that God keeps him close

Absolutely devastating. Tommy was the kindest, most humble person around. Praying for his family, his many many friends and his Doc's family. May they all try and find peace during this time. I know my brother Justin Klesic was there to meet his best friend. I'm sure their reunion was one for the books.

Tommy always greeted me with a smile and a sincere how’s it going? He had a genuine character that would actually listen intently to my responses and try to help in any way he could. He is a shining example of the unique type of personality that South Buffalo can produce; mixing loyalty to friends and integrity in his dealings in a business environment could not have been easy. He however, did it with grace and humility. South Buffalo suffered a great loss and my prayers go out to his family. - Billy Colern

I met Tommy 5 years ago from the first time I met him he always had a smile on his, carryied his heart on his arm to give it away, never hesitant to help others. His smile was as big as his fireworks shows on the beach. A class act he will be missed. Lost a wonderful person

Hard to believe such a bright light for our community is gone.
TC, my man! You brought me into your fold when I was going through a rough stretch. Went on a couple trips, had a lot of good laughs, and even though that was 20 years ago, every time we saw each other it was like yesterday.
I loved seeing your joy at getting the video from Judge after he had Doc’s wings!
Selfishly, I’m going to miss seeing you, but the community is going to miss you more.
Rest in peace, my friend… until we meet again.

Thoughts & prayers r 4 the family, relatives & friends who knew him well. 40 Thieves use 2 be Blue Monk & Merlin's. I've been over Patrick's Rooftop on Pearl St several times.
Great atmosphere, the place is beautiful in its design after this building was complete. The service, food/drink is always superb.
It seemed as though everything that Tommy accomplished turned out well. I was surprised & sad after finding out of his recent passing. 2 young 2 go.
My guess maybe the spirit in the sky or St Peter needs his assistance passed the pearly white gates. It's always hard/sad when anyone passes but especially when they r young. Life is 2 short. No one knows when but when it happens, it catches us off guard.
Never take anything 4 granted. Always thank someone 4 any service, deed that they provide. U may or might make their day.
Tommy Cowan, thank u 4 40 Thieves, Patrick's Rooftop & the other businesses that u owned/managed. U gave life when u opened these places, provided jobs.
Great service & it blended in the community. U will be missed RIP.

Words can’t describe the loss and shock we’re all feeling after the passing of undoubtedly one of the most generous, loving, fun, and caring friends to us all. Tommy represented all that embodies Buffalo; from his contagious, glowing smile to his immeasurable generosity, he’s the guy that would give you the shirt off his back and make you feel welcomed as if not a day passed since you last saw each other, even if was years. The entire city lost a legend, but our memories will remain forever, as Tommy left behind a legacy that will be hard to follow. To his family, our deepest condolences go out to you during this incredibly, difficult time. We are all shocked and sadden by the loss of our beloved “cuzzie”… we love you kid.

Tommy Cowan was my great friend. The words spoken after death are too late for the man who is gone. Tommy and I grew up together and then we grew old together. But, at times, when we saw each other and laughed, we grew younger. If he were here now, if he could hear what I say, I'd congratulate him on being a great man and thank him for being a friend. I loved him. He was the best. I will miss him forever.
