March 25, 1946 – February 14, 2024
Peggy Ann Cummings, of Buffalo, NY passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on February 14, 2024.
The daughter of Agnes and Timothy Cummings, Peggy had four brothers – Tim, Kevin, Larry and Jimmy - and many close cousins, all of whom shared wonderful memories of growing up together. She was a graduate of Mount Mercy Academy, where she met many lifelong friends. Peggy was a Deputy Sherriff at the Erie County Sherriff’s Department for twenty-five years.
Peggy was a fun, loving and adored aunt and great aunt. She was more than an aunt; she was like a mother to her nephew, Jim, and niece, Andrea, and grandmother to Olivia and Julia.
Peg’s life was spent in selfless devotion to those she loved. She retired to care full-time for her mother and later her brother, Larry. Peg’s warm and welcoming home, her fun and feisty attitude, and generous spirit endeared her to all those she met – whether for a minute or a
lifetime. Peggy touched so many lives with her genuine concern, infectious personality, quick laugh, and loving heart. Peggy’s greatest joy was found in the happiness of others. Peggy’s strength, optimism and unfailing faith served as a model for all who marveled at her resilience.
She was one of a kind and loved beyond measure.
Beloved daughter of the late Agnes (nee Ryan) and Timothy J. Cummings; dear sister of Timothy J. (Mary Jane) Cummings II and the late Kevin P. (and Vicky) Cummings, Lawrence E. and James L. Cummings; loving aunt of James L. (Terri) Cummings, Andrea (Tyler) Duvall, Patrick Cummings, Timothy J. Cummings III, Michael (Mary) Cummings, Karin (Dale) Wilcox,
and Kathleen (Chris ) Bogue; extraordinarily proud great-aunt of Olivia and Julia Duvall, Kaileen and Murphy Ryan, Jessica (Zach) Badgley and Amanda Wilcox and Brandi Cummings; also survived by many dear cousins and both new and lifelong friends.
